5 FAB things to do around Indy at Halloween time

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year! I’ve always loved dressing up and getting into character. It gives me an excuse to be someone different for an evening. The only problem is, I’ve been doing the same thing year after year for Halloween. Every year I go to a haunted house (they still scare me!) or a scary movie to gear up for the spooky holiday. This year I am in the mood for something a little different and have compiled a list of my top 5 things to do around town this Halloween....

Halloween Costume, you need a tan?

Halloween is just around the corner. I love Halloween because I get to be creative and wear an outfit that I couldn’t get away with on any other day of the year. I will take any opportunity to be over-the-top with my hair, makeup, and fashions. It’s always fun to talk to my clients and hear their great costume ideas and fun Halloween plans. It got me to thinking about all the costumes that can look even better and more complete with a smokin’ hot tan. Here a few of the ideas I came up with:

  • Lady Gaga—I am dying over all the awesome Lady Gaga costumes that are at the pop-up Halloween stores and even at Wal-Mart. You can buy Gaga wigs, hair bows made of hair, kooky sunglasses, and some of her most memorable outfits. I had my eye on the blue one from her Poker Face video, but I have deemed it too skimpy for me. No matter how strange and wacky her outfits are, she always has at least a light healthy glow on her. Did you see her glowy spray tan at the VMA’s? Ah-mazing!

  • Jersey Shore cast—You can’t even bring up Jersey Shore without mentioning tanning. I’ve heard that several girls are going as Snooki this year. It would be so fun to pouf up my hair, wear a leopard cocktail dress, and put on some big sneaker-shaped slippers. Although we can’t give you a crispy-fried tan like Snooki’s, we can definitely have you looking like you spent two weeks in Jamaica.

  • Greek goddess—This is always an easy go-to costume. There are always several variations that can be bought at the store or even done right out of your own closet. No goddess costume is complete without a golden tan. I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a cream tunic in the middle of fall without a little color on my skin!

  • Any costume that shows the legs, midriff, and chest—I think many of us gals are guilty of rocking the token “scandalous” Halloween costume: naughty nurse, sexy schoolgirl, flirty pirate, etc. Like I said, Halloween is the one day of the year that you can get away with nearly anything, so why not do it? And when you are showing that much skin, a tan is a must!

Who Says You Don't Feel Better with a Little Color ESPECIALLY in the Winter?

The last thing I want to be in the winter is pasty! Keeping my Air-Tan up through the winter helps me feel good about the way I look even in the dead of winter. Did you know your Air-Tan is fully customizable? We don’t just offer a few choices like light, medium, or dark; we offer levels 1 through 5 so you can feel confident in the choosing the color that is right for you. You can customize your tan even more (if you wish) by specifying certain places you might want more or less color. Here are a few examples of recently requested customizations:

3-2-1 or a 3 on the legs, 2 on the body, and 1 on the face

no color or lighter color on the face

more color on the face to counteract fading

legs one level darker than rest of the body

more color on the arms and chest to look extra sun- kissed

I like a level 3 or 4 in the summer months, but now that fall is here, I like to stick to a 2 or a 3. With all of the holidays coming up, it’s good to know I can fully customize my color so I can feel good (and look good!) at parties, family reunions, and

events!

Why Air-Tan is like Fingernail Polish?

Exfoliation Routine

One thing that goes hand in hand with having a great tan is good exfoliation session or
two. The key to having an even tan is being completely exfoliated, especially if you are
coming in weekly. It’s always best to spray the freshest layer of skin, and getting sprayed
with product already on you can leave you looking blotchy. Just like when you paint your nails you want to make sure all of the old polish is off, before applying a fresh coat (even if it is the same color).

My Air-Tan seems like it lasts on my skin forever! If I really baby it and take care of it,
I can get at least a week and a half out of it, but if I want to get a new tan every week, I
really have to work to scrub it off. After a year of getting sprayed almost every week, I have developed my own method for exfoliation. I usually get sprayed on Thursdays, so I start my “preliminary exfoliation” on Tuesday night. That consists of just taking a shower and lightly using the Air-Tan Body Scrub and a washcloth. After getting out of the shower, it’s important to use a dry towel to wipe down with. The dry towel helps so much come off!

On Wednesday night, I take a bath and get rid of last bits of tan still left. I put the scrub on all over and vegetate with a magazine for a little bit. My trouble spots are normally on the shins, behind the knees, my underarms, and neck. Once I’ve read a few pages, I use a washcloth and scrub away! Luckily, the exfoliating scrub makes exfoliating so much easier than with plain old soap and water. The scrub works so well because it has glycolic acid in it, which helps get rid of the top layers of skin. It’s stronger than any exfoliating scrubs from the drug store, but still gentle enough to not irritate your skin. Although I am sad to see my tan go, it’s nice to pamper myself a little bit. Exfoliating used to be a chore, but now that I get to relax and take a bath with some fresh-smelling scrub, I look forward to it!
